Card Sort - Occupational Therapy Resource skills resource 2007

The occupational therapy card sort resource can help students to evaluate/re-evaluate their skills and identify their learning needs.

The card sort consists of modified playing cards which you can 'deal' enabling you to identify your perceived level of ability in relation to key skills and attributes. The cards draw on a range of professional standards and core skills and encourage a reflective practice approach.

Card sort was developed at York St John University and is available to be used widely by students and qualified staff of any level of experience. The card sort enables students and occupational therapists practicing at various levels to evaluate their skills and identify areas which require further development. Results from the card sort can be compared at various intervals.

Students can use the card sort to evaluate their skills after particular modules or practice placements. They may discuss their skills in peer groups or with academic tutees and use the card sort to develop a learning plan to address skills which they need to develop. The card sort can be used within staff appraisal, for personal development planning and within a professional development portfolio.
