The Universities UK/Guild HE Working Group for the Promotion of Mental Well-Being in Higher Education will be holding a conference on Monday 27, April 2009.

The conference will offer the opportunity to:
  • Reflect on the impact of the current HE context on mental well-being.
  • Learn about the nature and extent of difficulties being presented by students.
  • Hear the analysis and results of our 2008 survey ito policy and practice.
  • Consider ways of counteracting alcohol misuse.
  • Attend seminars on two of the following topics: the needs of international students, staff well-being, challenging stigma, the work of Nightline strategies to help staff cope.
  • Contribute to the future direction of the Working Group.

Speakers will include Dr Fiona Measham, Dr Annie Grant and Dr Leonard Fagin.


The conference will be of interest and relevance to everyone teaching in HE, human resource managers, doctors, occupational health personnel, student unions and staff in student support services.

Fee: £180  (Limited number of places for students at subsidised rate of £50)

Early booking is advised as previous conferences have been oversubscribed.
