Widening Participation and Diversity Workshop
This workshop will take place at King’s College London and the key speaker will be Helen May, Acting Senior Advisor for Widening Participation and Research at Academy York. The main focus will be on sharing practice and developing ideas about new ways forward. Another aim will be to build the foundations of a new Special Interest Group.
Using the Patchwork Text in Higher Education
Patchwork text is a learning and assessment process where students build up a final piece of written work through an iterative process of peer feedback and review. This workshop wil provide an understanding of the PT approach to teaching and assessment. Anyone teaching in HE looking to extend their range of assessment opportunities or for whom collaborative learning is important will find it useful to attend.
Creative Applications of OSCEs in Health Professional Education
An interactive workshop during which ten EIHMS staff will be facilitating individual OSCE station workshops during the day and casualty simulation actors from ‘Three Kings Theatrical’ will be demonstrating their collaboration in EIHMS OSCEs with acting and medical make-up appropriate to the stations on display.
Optimising the contribution that Service Users and Carers can make in Learning and Teaching
To explore models, share practical tips, advice and protocols on involving service users and carers in learning and teaching. This workshop will be of interest to anyone working in the field of Health and social care education who whishes to involve service users and carers in learning and teaching.
Education in Palliative Care Workshop - reviewing the quality of the learning experience
This workshop aims to consider some of the key topics that are found to be challenging by those involved in palliative care education as well as providing a networking event for educationalists working in a similar subject area.
Using Portfolios to Develop Students’ Employability Skills Workshop
The purpose of this workshop was to help participants to review and plan the extent and, where appropriate, to extend their use of portfolios as a tool for developing and assessing students employability skills.

The topic of mental health has relevance across all disciplines within the subject centre, including those who are directly involved in mental health learning and teaching and those disciplines where issues of mental health can impact upon the well being and health outcomes of practitioners and the people they work with. We are keen to bring together people from across all disciplines in the subject centre whether you are involved directly in mental health work, or are interested but don't know where to start!
